Physical and mental health
As well as finding the right support, it’s important to make sure we look after ourselves. There are strong links between our physical health and our mental health and it’s important we do both.
We can do this in many ways including:
- Eating well
- Sleeping well
- Relaxing
- Connecting to others
- Getting enough exercise
- Not drinking too much alcohol
Anxiety
Anxiety can be a challenge for anyone. At times, it can seriously interfere with our ability to live our lives as we would wish. It can be important to do more of the things that help us relax, and also to learn and develop ways with which we can manage our anxiety at specific times, and in specific situations. Relaxation training, meditation, yoga, exercise, and self-hypnosis can all help.
Five Ways to Wellbeing
The Five Ways to Wellbeing are a set of evidence-based actions which promote people’s wellbeing. They are:
- Connect
- Be Active
- Take Notice
- Keep Learning
- Give.
These activities are simple things individuals can do in their everyday lives.
Self help
Many people learn to manage and cope with mental health problems by finding ways to help themselves. It can be really helpful to find out what’s going on locally. Click here to learn more about self help groups in the local community.
Accessing nature
There is a strong evidence base which indicates that spending time and accessing nature can be beneficial for our mental health. You can access local nature-based services through Framework’s Nature in Mind service.
